It all depends on what you want. Be sure to do lots of research and make an informed purchase from a reliable source when/if you get a snake (on-line breeder, reptile show, etc.) Some possible snakes you might want:
-Ball python (make sure it is CB, this apllies to all snakes!)
-corn snake
-california or mexican black kingsnake
-African house snake
-Kenyan sand boa
-Rosy boa
-children's python
-spotted python
if you want to go a little bigger, :
-Carpet python (Jungle, Irian Jaya)
-Hogg island boa
-Sonoran desert boa
