corn snakes are great but they get a little larger than 3 feet... i'm not sure about prices but key corns stay smaller than normal corns (about 3 feet) and from what i've heard are just as easy* to take care of as a "normal" corn.

*easy is a relative term... any snake (or other pet for that matter) requires time and commitment. Make sure you know what your getting into
