Don't let those little sausage shaped bodies fool you, they are GREAT at escaping. Funny thing is they're always easy to find (so far for me, anyway). But pretty much all snakes are great at escaping. Most chain petstores (but not petsmart) sell frozen smaller mice so you should be ok if you live near one. Adult females can eat adult mice, but I don't think I'd let one of mine kill a live one.
