Yes, it is safe if it does not have a pesticide included in it. Check the bags. Some people don't use it because it is not a renewable resource like peat moss or Bed a Beast. I use hardwood mulch in the plant beds located in my turtle pens. Tess

:I am looking to add mulch to my outdoor box turtle pen to prevent so many weeds from growing in the summer.
:I was thinking going to local gas station that sells Cypress Rose Mulch and wanted to see if it was safe. I say gas station because I only want/need a few bags.
