I have used it against the inside walls of my melamine enclosures. I simply placed a strip along the wall and covered it with a piece of pegboard. This way the heat can reverberate off the walls and the pegboad holes allow for a little better heat transfer. The only drawback that I had was the "clips" and the clip covers. I found it difficult to hide or secure the electrical portion of the wiring - that would make more sence if you saw the tank LOL. Long story short - it did work. I got my tank up to about 90+
