I thaw my rats in hot (120 degrees) water. After an hour or so the water has cooled to 95-100 degrees. Even my once finiky eaters always take their food now.
I think that many need to sense heat to excite their feeding response. Before, when I would thaw to room temperature, some would refuse. Hope this helps. Good luck!!
