In Reply to: Who was it that Injected their feeders with water?? (more) posted by afflicted on May 04, 2003 at 12:37:30:
i did that with one of my boas, who i never saw drinking .. anyway this method helped him poop about once every 3 weeks. before he could go to 2 months without pooping. he would look swollen at the end part and i just couldn't bare it.
this is what i do.... i use the syringes with needles ( like the ones used for blood or vaccine) and i just inject water inside the feeder, in the abdomen. its better to insert in 2 places rather then just in one becasue if there is a lot of pressure inside there would be some backflow. you can also inject under the skin but don't inject too much cos the pressure builds up soon here.
if the boa in consideration has a case of severe constipation i suggest getting a small rat ( smaller then usual) and really fill him with water. unlike bathing ( whcich doesn't always work) or force watering , the method has no strees effect on the boa.
its also great to inject vitamins or calcium without giving the food a bad taste.
thats all i can think of. hope it helps...
ps... i am flatter that someone will use this method considering i'm quite a beginner.
