Badzilla,
. 10 pounds is actually heavy enough for a 6 foot male Bci. My male Bcc is 6.5 feet long and weighs just under 9 pounds. Rather than estimate weights I think it is a good idea to keep track of actual weights. A sudden drop in weight may be an early sign of a problem. Snakes are pretty good at hiding symptoms of diseases. A sick snake may look fine for months before showing any symptoms. A weight loss may precede any other visible symptoms by many months. Adult male Boas often are more interested in mating than eating. Many of them go off feed or eat sparingly during much of the year. As long as he is eating occasionally and not rapidly losing weight he is probably okay.

:I've got a male boa constrictor that is about 6ft. long and around 5yrs. old. He weighs about 10lbs. Is that normal? He refuses to eat more than once every two weeks. Sometimes he just seems scrawny to me.
:Thanks
