A crested gecko would probably be a good choice for you. They're handable, only need sprayed once a day or once every other day, don't need any special lighting or heat, and they are full of personality. They are great lizards and come in a variety of colors. The only downside is they can be a little pricey ($40-150 depending on color), but you can afford to spend a little more on a crestie since they do great at room temperature (72-80 degrees) and don't need UVB, thus eliminating the need for any special lighting. Above is a picture of juevenile normal colored crestie.
