I had a blue-tongue for about 3 years and it fits your needs as described. Except maybe the playing part. I've never seen a reptile behave in a playful manner like a puppy or kitten. A blue-tongue can be serene and sit on your lap for awhile, and maybe it will watch you or follow your around a little bit, but it won't be as interactive as a mammal or bird. In my experience.
