You should LOOK INTO (im no expert) the plated lizards.. some get as big as 28" and they are suppose to be very calm i just got one ..but im not sure what subspecies it is exactly yet.. but i know he will not get much bigger than 18"... the two largest of the Plated Lizards are.."Zonosaurs maximus" (28") and the "Gerrhosaurus validus" (28") the one i got are not of the larger ones but so far he has a great temperment and supposevly what i read they are fairly easy to care for.. do a couple of searches for those and see if u like em' or not.

: What is a good large lizard for a beginner. Looking for a lizard with a good temperment, that grows to a good size, and is not to hard to care for, but I can handle some hardships. Cageing size is not a problem at all. Thanks all, laters.
