A Bearded Dragon is an excellent choice. They don't grow too big,(2 ft.) but they do need a lot of space to move about. They enjoy handling, and are rarely aggressive with humans. They are omnivores which means they eat both plant and animal matter.

Another choice is the Chinese Water Dragon, but they grow three feet long, and have special caring requirements. They are not for the beginner. Though if you are interested, please visit my CHINESE WATER DRAGON PAGE AT: www.geocities.com/sweetvane4ever/breed3.html
