Pumpkin won't stop digging

Pumpkin will not stop digging in her bran. I am almost positive she is not gravid (definitely not fertile as she has not mated). I felt her stomach and could not feel any eggs. How obvious is it? Does this just start happening when they are sexually mature? She is 9 months, 16.5 inches and 350 grams.
