We got a cheap large wire bird cage at a garge sale, installed some climbing branches and a cardboard shade box. Spike suns in the yard while I garden, climbs the cage and the branches and soaks up his sun as safe as can be (seems so far, anyway). Once bug season hits here we'll cover it with fine mosquito netting for security. Just an idea to try that is safe from our cats and from birds etc.
