beardies behavior?

My beardie is 5 1/2 months old eating a ton in perfect health the only problem is he won't let me near him? I have been hand feeding him treats since he was a month old. As soon as my hand gets near him with no food he darts from one end of his enclosure to the other and will not let me get near him? is this normal will he calm as he gets older? I try and handle him every other day but still he freaks and takes off?
