If you've got chicks, give it a try. Or you could try the more expensive options of gerbils and hamsters or some other wild type mice like deer mice. I had a Ball that would only eat dark colored prey items (so white mice never worked). Be careful feeding gerbils and hamsters though- definitely try pre-killed first as they can really hurt your snake if they're live. Have you tried young rat pups left over night?
