I use this as a substrate for my frogs/salamanders and it works wonders for holding in humidity for them. I just use newspaper for my python though, because it's easier to clean. If you were creating a naturalistic terrarium, I would recommend the forest bedding as a good substrate (it's just cried coconut fiber, no wood is in it.) But if it;s a utilitarian snake cage, newspaper is cheaper, though much less attractive.
