Hi Jerry –
You’ll often hear that a reasonable rule of thumb is to feed a ball python a food item that is about the same diameter (or a little larger) as the snake’s thickest part. You shouldn’t go wrong with that. Another measure I use is to aim for a meal no more than 10% of the snake’s body weight. I can’t say how exactly I came up with that; it’s just always worked pretty well for me.
