I moved with 5 corn snakes. Just get a rubbermaid big enough for the snake. Use drill or dremel or sauder iron to make air holes around top of rubbermaid tub. Buy rubberbands large enough to go around rubbermaid and hold lid sucuirly. Buy extra rubberbands, as at least one will snap in your face everyday! Use aspen as substrate, deeper than usual, enough so snake can burrow down in. Get a water bowl appropriate size, but only put water bowl in rubbermaid when it is not moving (IE~ all night while your in the motel, all day when snake will be staying in motel while you go to Disneyland or wherever, but NOT while box is in motion) Put rubbermaid in larger box or bag (I used a suitcase which allowed the rubbermaids to sit stable, but blocked view of what I had from motel room clerks) Make sure outer container allows for air to enter, AND that it is dark inside. Make sure rubbermaid ALWAYS stays right side up and is jostled as little as possible.
Get a temp gun or very accurate thermometer. Take temp of snakes area often. If too cool move snake close to TV, if too warm put in bathroom floor (linoleam is cooler). DO NOT FEED until traveling is done (Temp fluctations can be dealt with short term, but will not allow for proper digestion.) DO NOT EVER leave snake in car your not riding in, and ALWAYS check to be sure snake is not sitting in front of heating vent or under window in direct sunlight.
