I am not certain about your exact questions, but I do know what has worked for me RE: good shed.

We have a warm & cool hide in Abby's box, obviously. When we notice that her eyes have gone blue, we put a dish with damp moss into the cool hide while we have her out. When we put her back into her home, we remove the warm hide for about 5 minutes, so she is "forced" into the cool/damp hide. (There is also a hide spot that is not damp for her on the cool side, but she does not prefer it... she's picky...)

We leave her be for 2-3 days, and voila! good shed. It seems that she likes having a micro climate, and it is a lot easier to keep that area humid vs. humidifying the entire tank. (Which we had done in the past, and it was bad, we had the damp towel, squirt bottles, she got a bath, READ: Not a happy snake. To make things worse, she had an awful shed.)

Not that it answers your exact questions, sorry, but I hope it helped. Cheers!
