is thailand still closed??

Is thailand closed (not allowing removal of snakes from their country) ? I have spent a lot of time there in the past and my friend and I would like to go in the summer of 2001. We don't want to take out specimens on a "business scale' but if we are lucky enough to catch or purchase a few T.venustus or T.macrops or even Popes (Ngoo Keo Hang Mai) then we would want to take them home to the USA with us. anybody have any ideas about how feasable this would be? Kob-koon maak krup.
