CHANNEL NEWSASIA (Hong Kong) 14 March 00 Hundreds make pilgrimage to Cambodian village for "healing" python
A village near the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh has become the focus of a pilgrimage for hundreds of people. The pilgrims are insisting that a python dwelling there has healing powers.
The "magic", believers say, is in the water which is transformed into a healing potion once the python slithers through it or drinks from it.
In recent weeks, a house in the village near the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh has become the focus for hundreds of a "holy" python.
In its "holy" state, the water is said to cure headaches and other common ailments.
While there is no price tag attached to the water, those who use it are "encouraged" to make a donation.
Maen Sophal, who looks after this "celebrity snake", said it all began when her husband had a dream mid-February in which three airplanes circled his home as a rainbow lit up the sky.
The next day, the python appeared in Sophal's yard, a sign of good fortune.
Believers claim that the water, when used to wash the face, is bound to heal whatever ailments one feels.
