DAILY EXPRESS (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia) 26 October 00 Victim of croc attack
Semporna: The remains of a man, believed to be a crocodile victim, was found in Sungei Kolumpang about 50km from here on Sunday.
District police chief Supt Sulaiman Junaidi said police rushed to the scene after being alerted by villagers about the body by the river.
Search for the body was called off due to fading light at 6.30pm and was continued the next morning.
At 8am, the team recovered the naked body floating but to their shock the upper section was missing, believed to have been severed by crocodile bite.
Sulaiman said police are still ascertaining the identity of the deceased since there was no missing person report lodged.
He urged residents here having any knowledge of people missing to contact police. The remains were sent to the district hospital for post mortem.
According to him, crocodile attacks in this part of the district was not uncommon and happened almost every year.
