Hi Mike,
I keeping my one outside in a swimming pool, with 10 - 50 cm deep water, as fooditems I give eal, every 20-30 day's one, no problem at all. Offcourse, you living in cool Canada, that's make it easy for me to keeping lot's of water snakes from this region.
