I have my substrate sitting directly on top of the false bottom. No rocks underneath. I think that addresses your question. Let me know if I misunderstood.

:I am building a false bottom as of right now, but I have a question. Do I still need to put down river rocks? Since all the water will drain into the false bottom do I need them? I already have them so it is no problem, but want to know
:Thanks
