Very true, for the average user a 3megapixel is penty and you can get a nice new Sony model (i think p52 or p72) for $300 or so.
I do IT for a living so maybe I expect people to have 6-7 pc's, home network, and web server like I do, and to have at least 1-3 that are picture worthy.

I am partial to Sonys, but Canons are also very nice.

:Also keep in mind that the camera is only as good the person's video card and monitor that is viewing the pic...so if you post a great pic to the site and someone has a crap monitor and vid card then the pic will not look as good..the higher megapixel camera's come more into play if you are printing your photos..just my 2 penny's worth.
