Man, I have no idea on the ant issue. Feed, don't feed, everyone has a different opinion. I have personally seen websites devoted to how to separate ants for feeding, and that article came from a European author (check out www.tincs.com).

I have collected some very small ants here in the 'States and fed them to my froglets, but was unable to see them eat the ants because they were so fast, and they quickly embedded themselves in the substrate.

As with many issues in keeping dart frogs, I think this is one area that just requires you to exercise common sense. I wouldn't use ants with large pincers (like carpenter ants), and I've heard that fire ants are a bad choice as well (ever been bitten by those . . . ow!--that makes sense). If you happen upon some small ants that seem to have small pincers, and they dont bite or burn you, you're probably okay. But I'm certainly no expert on this subject.

I just thought I'd ad my opinion, since the last post about ants received exactly no comments (and I was hoping to get some insight on this issue). Oh well.

Best of luck,

Homer

:As an ant climbs up my leg I am left wondering the reason why European ants are not an acceptable livefood for Arrow Frogs? I am guessing it may be because they can bite?
:Any information would be great.
:Thanks,
