Unfortunately band count is not an accurate measure of an animals' genetic purity. I also remember Norm finding a milksnake in the grassy banks with a band on its snout. Even though its head looked like hondurensis, it was no intergrade. The snake that Aaron posted may have produced wide-banded animals because it was wide-banded. It just may have been at the periphery of variation for a RR celaenops. In any regard it is all conjecture without DNA evidence. It's fun thinking about though.
