I personally think a naturally occurring kingsnake hybrid would
be really cool to have. I would probably try to breed it to
either an alterna or a celaenops and move the babies as locality
-specific hybrids. If that snake wasn't collected, it might have
tried to breed to other alterna or celaenops in the wild. Or
perhaps it would not be able to figure out what to do with itself.
Who knows what the long-term influences hybridization has on the
populations of alterna & triangulum. Once again, it's a pretty
cool aspect of nature, not to be confused with many of unnatural
breedings that are induced in captivity.
:Not only would I like to know the story (history) of this animal but I'd like to know it's future too. What do you do with this animal next spring for breeding? Is it now relegated to celibacy for it's life or will it be put in a breeding program? And just what exactly will it be mated with?
:I realize this is not my problem per se, but I am very curious. I planned on making my first trip out there next season and frankly if I caught something like this animal I wouldn't know what to do with it. It is beautiful though.
