Recycled paper mulch is by far the best product I have tried. It is super-absorbent and wicks moisture away from fecal material/spilled water etc... At the same time, for hatchlings and other snakes that need more moisture, you can actually add water to the mix and it stays lightly moist for weeks. I use a brand called CareFresh that is available at PetCo/Petsmart. It is also completely odorless. I also use this material to incubate my eggs now and have had a great success rate with it. Again, it keeps the environment around the eggs humid, but it will not allow moisture to directly contact the eggs. And shoot-it's a recycled product.
