:Question 1: What do you prefer for the substrate of your cages? Why?
We use Cypress Mulch, it does not mildew like Aspen if it gets wet and in fact that is what is nice about the mulch for rattlesnakes, hognose etc. is that you can wet the cage for humid loving species and it will dry out with no problem and looks very natural. Drawback: it is a little hard to spot feces to clean up but you can just replace it at the price they charge for a large bag.
