In Reply to: CAPTURED EGG LAYING GATOR LIZARD NEED INFO... posted by LOS on July 15, 2002 at 13:58:43:
: OK SO THIS IS THE DEAL, A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I NOTICED A ODD LOOKING, GOOD SIZE LIZARD CRAWLING AROUND MY APARTMENT COMPLEX IN NEWPORT BCH, CA. I NOTICED THAT IT'S BACK LEGS WEREN'T WORKING
: AND DECIDED TO HELP THIS GUY OUT. MY INTIAL THOUGHT WAS THAT IT WAS INJURED, ACTUALLY I STILL CANT TELL IF IT IS OR NOT. I'VE CARED FOR REPTILES IN THE PAST SO I KIND OF NEW WHAT I WAS DOING I RESEARCHED THIS LIZARD AND LEARNED IT WAS AN ALLIGATOR LIZARD. OK HERE COMES TO GOOD PART I STARTED FEELING BAD FOR IT AND THINKING THAT THERE WOULD BE NOTHING I CAN DO FOR IT AND IT PROBABLY WOULD NOT SURVIVE AND THAT THE RIGHT THING TO DO WAS TO SET IT FREE SO I DID, RIGHT ABOUT THE SAME PLACE I FOUND IT AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES OR SO I WENT BACK OUT TO CHECK ON IT AND THERE WAS A BIG ALLEY CAT RIGHT THEIR READY TO POUNCE ON IT! SO ONCE AGAIN I DECIDED TO SAVE IT. THE NEXT DAY WHICH WAS SUNDAY 7/14 I WOKE UP TO WHAT LOOK TO ME AS AN EGG AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT I WAS CORRECT. SINCE SUNDAY SHE HAS ONLY LAYED 2 EGGS MY FIRST QUESTION IS THAT NORMAL FOR THE EGGS TO BE COMING OUT SO SLOWLY? MY NEXT QUESTION IS IT NORMAL FOR THE FEMALE TO HAVE A REAR END PARALYSIS WHILE PREGNANT? AND LAST QUESTION SHE SEEMS TO LAY HER EGGS ON TOP OF THE BARK THAT I HAVE FOR GROUND SETTING, DO THEY NORMALLY BURRY THEIR EGGS?
: THANKS FOR LISTENING. THIS SITE HAS BEEN ALLOT OF HELP!
LOS- what ever happened to your situation with that poor little pregnant Al? I hate ask. I always hate losing animals big or small.
