Fat tailed gecko..

Hello. My friend just bought an African fat tailed gecko and she doesn't really know that much about them and neither do I. I own leopeard geckos. I figure they are somewhat similar but not really.. Does anyone have some advice on how to tell if they are m/f and their life expectancy etc.. Thanks..
