Hi - I work at a zoo in Kansas - today a fellow from a local coffee shop droped off a small snake that apparently traveled from Kenya to Kansas via a crate of coffee beans. Unfortunately our snake expert is on vacation for 2 weeks starting today and none of the other staff members are all that familiar with African snakes. I was hoping someone hear could suggest a color guide to African herps. I'll also try to get a good pic and scan it in the next few days to see if anyone here recognizes it. As a quick description it's about 6" long, a medium brown color with a lighter streak down the center of its back. Along the stripe are alternating black dots. It has one large black dot on the back of the neck and the top of its head is a darker shade of brown.
I'd appreciate any help you can provide!
Beth
