: I have a 26 month old African Spurred Tortoise. I'm not sure what sex it is, but I'm getting worried because its only about 6 inches from head to tail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Nani, your sulcata needs a diet high in fiber in order to grow properly. i have two sulcatas and heres how i feed them.
let them graze in the yard as much as possible or clip some grass and put it in their enclosure. fruits should only be given once in a while. take a cup of alfalfa pellets, a cup of plain shredded wheat, a cup of plain oatmeal, a handful of alfalfa hay, a handful of timothy hay. put all this in a blender and chop it up real fine. sprinkle it on their greens. mine love it. i also keep a tray in their inclosure with alfalfa hay, timothy hay, and alfalfa pellets on it for them to pick at. make sure their enclosure is the proper temp. if possible, grass and weeds should be 90%of their diet. good lucl. let me know how you make out. as far as sexing, the anal scute angle of males are wider than the females. you may need to compair it with another one.
