I think you should discuss the fact that reptiles don't need to be petted like dogs or cats. Almost every time I see a child that comes into contact with a reptile it has to stroke if a few times. This always seems to stress the reptile. Dogs and cats are affectionate animals that enjoy petting. For them it is how affection is expressed. But reptiles hate it. So it wouldn't make much sense to pet them. It completely looses it's meaning. Infact, it does the opposite. Also, I go to reptile shows and see little kids helping their parents. They get so into it. For some dumb reason most parents teach their kids to view reptiles as a disgusting think. I think it's great to see people teaching their kids to love reptiles for what they are!!
