I've looked at the Ohio department of natural resources website and there are 2 licences. You only need the propagating license if you're planning on breeding or selling. If you just own a native Ohio reptile (doesn't matter where you got it from), you need a cheaper non-propagating license. You also apparetnly have to get something called a PIT tag implanted in your reptile. They have a list of native reptiles to the state. It's something to think about before you buy that red-eared slider or licorice black rat snake.
