It's true that PETA doesn't believe in animal use for any human use, but they feel that the way to go about this is to keep animals currently in captivity from breeding. So, basically, if we followed their doctrine, the animals currently in the possession of humans would be the last generation in the possession of humans. Don't let them or don't force them to breed and there won't be any more domestic dogs, cats, lab animals, farm animals, ect. So, a PETA member owning a recued, neutered dog or cat could fall into their beliefs.

:Just to clear this up, PETA can't even keep their members straight. I know several peta members who own cats and/or dogs, and I have even seen them with their pets at PETA events, despite the fact that the PETA doctrine opposes all human interaction with animals on any level.
