I found a snake today- we live in Vermont. The snake was not a garter snake---this one was weird. It was about 3-4 feet long--it was a greyish/lt brown color with brown spots(not quite diamond shaped) all over the body. My neighbor said she saw a little bit of white on the snake- I did not see that. The head was almost triangular and it coiled up and tried to bite a child today. Last year we had seen a snake that looked simular but it had a rattle on the end--we have not been able to find that one. However this snake resembled that one- and I didnt get close enough to see if there was a rattle on it. My mother was bitten by a spotted adder here and said the description sounds like one. Can you help me identify this snake? Thank you.
