The wall lizards were introduced about 50 years ago (not a zoo escapee) in eastern Cincinnati and have since become well established and have extended their range considerably, to include the Cincinnati Zoo area, most areas along the river and even into Northern Kentucky (Ft. Thomas, Ky seems to have the most well established population in Northern Kentucky). They are now considered permanent residents and are even protected as a "native" species under Ohio State law. Actually, they are now quite common. Several references can be found on the web by typing in words like: Ohio, wall lizard, Cincinnati...

(P.S., Please don't misinterperet my tone, I am not trying to sound snotty or like a know it all, I just live in Cincinnati and want to help.)
Also, needle palms can grow here in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area (Rhapidophyllum hystrix), so, when I see a wall lizard basking on a wall with a needle palm next to it I get the feeling like I'm in Florida (the lizards are MUCH more common than the needle palms are in Cincinnati though. FYI, a needle palm is a small bush-like palm tree that is the hardiest type of palm- hardy to zone 5, I think. Both live here in Cincinnati quite well.).
