Greetings ANACONDA and Fellow Herpetologists,
I hope this answers your questions about VHS membership.
Membership to the Valley Herpetological Society is open to any person that has an interest in keeping/caring for reptiles & amphibians and/or wants to learn more about these interesting animals. It's also a great place to visit people having similiar interests and see what they are up to.
Membership has it's Privileges which include: at least 2 newsletters/yr , email invites to shows, expos, fieldtrips, campouts, club parties, a free raffle ticket at each show attended, a vote in VHS elections, and the ability to run for VHS office, etc...
Shows are generally held at the Harlingen Library on a Wed. night. VHS has held meetings elsewhere such as UTB, and Weslaco Library; but we need more interest in other Valley areas to bring our meetings outside Harlingen. If you live elsewhere in the Valley and need a ride, we recommend trying to carpool. You can post a carpool ad on this forum.
Members are encouraged to bring their healthy nonvenomous(of course)herps to shows and share info. for everyone's benefit. Members are also encouraged to help with the newsletter and to write and place ads as well.
Currently, VHS is planning to come out of it's summer '2000' dormancy with at least 2 more meetings - one of which will be the VHS end-of-year election party.
A Single membership is $10/yr and a Family membership is $15/yr.
The best way to join VHS now, is to email Brent & Annetrea (Editor & Sec.) at firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com. They can put you on the membership list.
P.S. VHS is always in search of some more good help so we can accomplish more.
: HOW DOES ONE GET TO BE A MEMBER IN THE VALLEY SOCIETY ?
: WOULD ANYBODY BE INTRESTED IN SENDING ME THE INFO ? I WOULD APPRECIATE IT ?
