A. hispida tend to come in loaded with hookworms and pentastomids and internal damage from same. If you send me a good digital picture of the parasite I can ID it for sure. It is also possible that these are exoparasites (mites) but I'd like to see one to be sure.

We had no luck with any hispida; necropsy showed that they all had literal holes eaten through their guts and internal organs. If I confirmed pentastomids I'd whack with intracoelomic Levamisole and support antibiotics for the damage that is presumably already done inside, and possibly nebulize with Amikacin.

:i noticed tiny black parasites in the mouth of my male a. hispida, does anyone know what these are and how to treat them? the closest hot vet. is 2 1/2 hours away but i can order medicine from a local vet. who is willing to help. any help anyone could give would be very much appreciated.
