In Reply to: Thanks! a couple more questions...... posted by gila7150 on December 29, 2002 at 17:19:49:
:1. You mentioned swollen lymph nodes but did you have a lot of localized swelling in the affected extremity?
:2. Assuming they did bloodwork on you, did anything come back abnormal after the bite?
:3. Did you take any post-bite photographs that you would be willing to share?
:4. I've heard of serious gila bites causing temporary EKG changes. Did they perform a cardiac EKG and if so, were there any abnormalities?
:Thanks for all the great info. I hope your recovery continues to go well.

1: My right hand and about 3/4 the way up my forearm swelled up. The swelling in the arm went away w/in a couple of days, but the hand is still slightly swollen, not much though.
2: My clotting factors came back abnormal, and were still abnormal the following day, but not enough to keep me in the hospital. At the recheck a week after the bite, everything was normal.
3: Our toxicologist took some photos and is doing case study write-up. I'll see what I can do about getting the photos from him and posting them here.
4: To my knowledge, the EKG readings were normal. If there were abnormalities then it would've been w/in the 1st cpl of hours post bite. After that, I know everything was normal w/ the EKG readings.
