Atrox pack quite a punch for a beginner hot...If you are just now getting into hots and have a lot of experience and handling time with them under someone to show you how, I would suggest going with something a little milder and calmer...IE a copperhead. Found a baby today that SAT on the hook and did not move once. And best of all, in most cases bites are less harmful. They are still painful and need to be treated and watched, but as far as bites go by venomous species in the US if you took a bite, you would probably want it to be from a copperhead as opposed to a large rattler, cottonmouth, or coral. Anyway, my opinion on the subject. All this is if you have significant experience handling the animals already with someone that could be considered efficient in working with them. Andy
