This is not meant to degrade the previous message by charper! Also posted it in the field forum.
Ok, I just finished up watching the new special on mambas that animal planet has been advertising for the past three weeks. I was expecting the usual “the snake is a deadly killer, watch it kill the people” hoopla that usually accompanies these shows. However the fact that it was one of the new mutual of Omaha wild kingdom docs made me think it may carry somewhat more of a conservation, save the animals kind of mood. What it amounted to was one of the most hypocritical pieces of crap I have seen on TV. One clip they would say “save the snake” and the next minute they would talk about the herd of cows that was killed by a mamba, or the canoe peddler that was bitten unprovoked, or the family that was in dire danger because the deadly snakes were on their property. What gives! At the very end, that is the last 2 minutes, they had a save the snake message, but it was definitely to little , to late. Why does a respectable conservation minded television station have to continue such a negative connotation and stereotype! This coming spring when I do my outreach programs I know I will be hearing the little kiddies making reference to the piece of crap I just bore witness to. This just really ticks me off!
