Reactions are variable, from mild swelling and brusing, "FitzSimons" described immediate local tingling and burning, followed within a half minute by tightness of the throat, paralysis of the tongue and vocal cords, nausea, bluring of vision, weakness of the arms and legs and, two minutes later , unconsciousness which lasted for four hours. Upon recovery, chest tightness, blurred vision and vomiting. A two year old child was reported to have died of respiratory paralysis two hours after having been bitten
