In Reply to: WI Press:Man lets snakes bite him to show immunity is likely posted by Wes von Papineäu on September 19, 2001 at 10:14:37:
A century of research on the immunization against bacteria and viruses has shown that immunity against microorganisms and proteins CAN be aquired; furthermore and in the context of snake venoms: what works for horses is likely to work for humans as well. It is thus hard to see what the new insights provided by this "experiment" could be. Besides: It is highly unlikely that a researcher would ever propose studying deliberately administered snake bites in humans, as for any study involving humans there are strict protocols and high ethical standards that require at least that the benefit of a study is clearly defined. Anyway, glad you're back on track Tim.
