: : Well Suck. I would not use them if somebody gave them to me. Furmont all the way.

: Midwest's hooks are of acceptable average quality. They are perfectly serviceable, sturdy and a good value for their inexpensive price. Fuhrman titanium hooks are in my opinion top of the line, the best hooks out there for delicate balance and control as well as being able to stand up to the rigors of very hard field use. The Fuhrman Stump Ripper is the best field hook I own because it is lightweight and can flip a heavy sheet of tin without bending. On the minus side, those titanium hooks are bugger-all expensive, and not everbody needs this level of precision tool (or can afford it).

: Fuhrman's bagging stick takes minutes to assemble and involves two rods and two screws with wing nuts, the fabric snags and tears, changing bags takes roughly forever and forget it in the dark. The moment I got Midwest's original Snake Bagger in hand, I relegated the Fuhrman bagger to the closet and have had no need or desire to go through the tedium of assembling it again.

: Fuhrman doesn't make tongs, but even if they did, there is nothing on the market that could compare to the awesome Gentle Giants from Midwest.

: Fuhrman products (except for that miserable bagstick which cost me way too much in cash as well as aggravation) are generally excellent. I don't think you could buy a better hook than anything from their titanium line. But Midwest's hooks don't "suck" by any fair definition of the word. They are cheap and sturdy and serviceable, and that's about all you can say for them. But really that's enough. I think it is great that Midwest makes a low end product that is already affordable for folks on a budget, and then they go one step further and donate hooks to animal control officers so they can safely and harmlessly remove snakes. I do love Fuhrman hooks, but I support Midwest all the way as well, and not only because they make the best tongs and bagstick on the market.
