Or has anyone else noticed that there are a number of different tastes in herp tool needs and that there seems to be more than one company who is trying to meet this need? I think that it is awesome that there is more than one copmpany which means that they can't rest on their "laurels" and must keep putting out quality products to keep their customers satisfied. Furmont (sp questionable at best) obviously puts out a quality hook which may cost a bit more but may make up for that with lightweight reliability. Midwest obviously puts out the best tongs on the market and their new bagger is getting good reviews. Individual preferences are why we are here instead of hanging out at the kaleidescope corn snake forum. Neither postion regarding tools (or forums) is actually wrong, it is just a preference! The original post that drew all these responses (I just reread every single one) was merely giving credit to Midwest for their generosity. I think that, given the situation, they deserve some thanks. Other than that, lets all just agree that it's great to have choices! I mean, gee whiz, I sure am glad that I don't have to tail a Jameson's Mamba to show that I have some experience with venomous snakes! I choose Crotalus and Sistrurus and Agkistrodon and...isn't it great to have more than one choice! Karl H. Betz

PS If a Furmont or Midwest representative reads this and is overwhelmed with a desire for me to evaluate their hooks for free, my address is available on request but I should be clear that the hook I made in my garage in 1976 is still doing quite well. To be fair, I do have a Midwest Pocket Hook that is excellent for the uses I put it through.
