environment is referred to as "behavioural enrichment". Keepers now go out of their way to
place objects or shift around decoration and cage
furniture in the animals' exhibits to give them
some stimulation. It makes for a more contented
charge. This is even being practiced regularly at the LA Zoo reptile house. We even have volunteers that create cage furniture for the animals to utilize.
